My First Children's Book Launched!
Why yes, I wrote a children's book and I am super excited! The title is "God Made...A Photographic Song Of Creation." I am so pleased at how it turned out I can't help but share my excitement with you! It all began 19 years ago.
When my great-niece Ashlie was 2 years old we would have picnics at Kenneth Hahn Park in
Los Angele, CA. This park is beautiful, has streams and rocks and trees and green fields. It truly is lovely! Ashlie and I would sit on the side of the stream and take off our shoes and socks and put our feet on the rocks and let the cool water run over our toes and sing to the Lord. That is where the lyrics came from. This song, which is now a book, was originally titled, "Ashlie's Song." I wrote the first two verses with Ashlie. With the birth of her two children I added additional verses to the song as I sung each one to sleep.
Many of my additional "grandchildren,"(children of my former students,) are familiar with this song as it is one that I sing to all little children. May God continue to bless Ashlie, her children and all others who I have sung to or who may read this book, as you remember who created the beauty that is all around you and who created and loves you more than me, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
You can purchase an autographed copy of this book for a child(ren) in your life by clicking this link.
This book is also available on Amazon Kindle and in paperback on Amazon.com as well as on Barns and Noble!
Not only am I excited about publishing this book, but I am excited to have the opportunity to help an amazing organization by donating 50% of the profits, through the month of January, to GemsUncovered. Read more about their work here.
There's lots to celebrate this time of year and I thought I would share it all in this newsletter. October was an eventful month. My great-great niece,Rae'lyn, turned 3 years old in October. She is so amazing...to me, anyway.... Rae'lyn is adventurous and fearless, funny and super confident! Her boldness and ability to never give up have been been super impotant in my surgercal recovery. She shows me that the impossible is possible if you believe like a child. She challenges and cares for me and I love hearing her sweet little voice saying, "Be Careful Niña!" "Niña" is what she calls me and I call her my little "ChicaNiña." We even sing a song to the tune of "La Cucoracha." Yes, I know.... she will be displeased with me by the time she takes Elementary Spanish in Jr. High school. Until then, we will continue to sing and dance and celebrate what it is to be free as a child.
Thank you for allowing me to share a little bit about this little girl who has my heart! What else is a great-great-aunty suppose to do?
Check out the video below. See how excited she gets when she sees her big birthday present! I dare you not to smile.
About A Girl Named Rae'lyn11/7/2016
This past weekend on November 5th, 2016 my great niece Ashlie turned 21! Happy Birthday to my SweetiePumpkin! Aunty loves you! Also on October 5th, 2016 I published my first children's book on Amazon Kindle! Whooo Hoooo...clink the glasses! How do these two events garner celebrating milestones? I'm glad you asked!
Nineteen years ago I wrote this song for my great-niece Ashlie, who was 2 years old, as we hung out at Kenneth Hahn Park in Los Angeles, CA. This park is beautiful, has streams and rocks and trees and green fields. It truly is lovely! Ashlie and I would sit on the side of the stream and take off our shoes and socks and place our feet on the rocks and let the water run over our toes and sing to the Lord. That is where the lyrics came from. This song, which is now a book, was originally titled, "Ashlie's Song." I wrote the first two verses with Ashlie. Where the song would end, "God made you and me," was originally ended with, "God made Ashlie." With the birth of her two children I added additional verses to the song as I sung each one to sleep.
So, I want to take this time to wish Ashlie Happy 21st Birthday! This is a huge milestone birthday; and it is also because of this amazing life that I wrote a song, which has now become my very first children's book titled, "God Made... A Photographic Song Of Creation."
May God continue to bless your precious life.... Aunty-Mama love you Ashlie!
